Biographical Note:

Donahoe came to Bakersfield in 1914. The medical costs of treating polio as a child prevented her from pursuing a higher education. After graduating from Kern County Union High School (Bakersfield High School), she continued to work there until 1953. Donahoe won the election for California's assembly woman of the 38th District, a position she held until her death in 1960. Donahoe authored California's master plan for education whose mission was to provide educational equality amongst underrepresented citizens.
